According to the IRCC, the self employed program allows people to immigrate to Canada as a self employed person. }
Those that are interested in this program must have relevant experience in cultural activities or athletics and be willing and able to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada
What is considered a relevant experience?
Relevant experience in this stream will consider your experience of at least two years in the past five years
At a minimum, your experience must be
For Cultural activities: 2 one year periods of being self-employed in cultural activities or2 one year periods of participating at a world class level in cultural activities or a combination of a one year period of cultural activities and a one year period of participation at a world class level in cultural activities
For Athletics: 2 One year periods of being self-employed in athletics or 2 one year periods of participating at a world class level in athletics or a combination of a one year period of being self employed in athletics and a one year period of participating at a world class level in athletics
Will I be assessed under a points-based system?
The self-employed stream is a points based system that assesses your Education, experience, age, ability in English and/or French and your adaptability.
Applicants will have to get a minimum of 35 points which will be graded based on your five selection factors.
What is the processing time?
According to the IRCC, it may take up to 23 months to process your application.

Things to think about
